Needless to saw, we were STOKED to bring a drone out there and check it out. I posted the photo on my forestry professor from college's Facebook wall wondering if she knew what type of experimental forestry practice this was. Nelder plots, she said! They're used to measure density effects on tree growth -- and these plots are 30 years old. Coincidentally, one of her Facebook friends happened to have conducted a study on these plots ten years ago and emailed it to me! For all of you who want to read it and learn about the nelder plots, here you go:
